BMW 3 Series Makes 10Best List... Again
Published Thursday, 15 December, 2011 by John Roman. Categories: News.
Once a year, Car and Driver Magazine puts out a "10Best" list chronicling what it believes are the ten best vehicles on sale in the United States. There are hundreds of lists that come out every year ranking various cars for all sorts of various reasons, but this one is pretty simple in its purpose (find the best cars, period) and very respected because of the publication putting it out there.
As you can imagine, since you're reading all this information on a BMW blog, that one of our vehicles made the list yet again: the BMW 3 Series.
Yes, the 3 Series made the list last year, but that shouldn't be particularly surprising because, a.) Eight of last year's ten vehicles are back on the list this year, and b.) The 3 Series has made the 10Best every single year dating back to 1992. George Bush (The First) was president the last time the 3 Series wasn't on the list, folks. That's a heck of an accomplishment, and proof of prolonged success for what Car and Driver gushes is easily among the top handful of cars of the last two decades.
So what is it about the 3 Series (with special attention to the M3, which C&D felt the need to give some special attention to) that makes it so special? Well, let's start with the fact that this is a car that has stuck to the basic things people love in a vehicle, and just found ways to do them properly. The 4.0-liter V8, for example, is a smooth, smooth beast that pushes out 414 hp and combines grace and power better than any vehicle in our lineup. That, combined with pitch-perfect steering and suspension makes this one of the smoothest drives in the industry. It looks great, too, with a sporty exterior and comfortable leather seats, and of course aesthetics have to play an integral role in an award-winning vehicle too, don't they?
Tampa used BMW 3 Series dealers have an awful time keeping these things on their lots because they're just so popular. We're well aware that lists and accolades like Car and Driver's 10Best are a big reason why, so we're grateful for the shout-out, and look forward to seeing the 3 Series on next year's list, too. Let's make it 22 years straight, shall we?
