We're not even sure where to begin talking about the new prototype of the BMW i8 Spyder. We could say it's cool, but that would be like commenting on the wetness of water. We could say it's fuel efficient and technologically advanced and way ahead of its time, but those things seem pretty obvious, too, particularly if you've read anything about the vehicle. Knowing what we know, how can we possibly even begin to comment on this car? It's practically impossible to do it justice.
But we're going to try, anyway, because this is an automobile our customers really should know a little bit about. We wouldn't be doing Tampa BMW fans a service by withholding the information just because we're intimidated by its awesomeness.
So here goes: the i Series was put together by BMW to fast track an automotive future that's more fuel-efficient than ever, and the i8 Spyder, which is pretty similar to the i8 coupe that we already knew about, is the prize of these new concepts. It's a plug-in hybrid that gets-you ready for this?-78 MPG and 345 horsepower. Talk about the best of both worlds, right? And if you add the world of awesome looks, we're talking about the best of three worlds, here. Maybe even more. It's hard to keep count.
It's got a perfect 50:50 weight distribution, and the materials for the bulk of car have been lightened enough to completely offset the extra weight of the hybrid components. In short, it's a car that's thought of everything, and everything is so overwhelming that we're not sure we've done an appropriate job explaining how awesome it is. Hopefully we have, though, because this is the car of BMW's future.
