We here at Fields BMW Lakeland, like the rest of the sport-loving community, are getting really excited about the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.  It's hard to believe that it's been four years already since Michael Phelps worked his aquatic magic, NBA players recaptured international hoops glory, and U.S. gymnastics stars like Nastia Liukin and Shaun Johnson made names for themselves on the biggest sports stage on the planet.  But it really has been that long, and we're already gearing up for another exciting go-round in one of the most historic cities in Europe.

What we're also gearing up for is the results of a huge sponsorship partnership between BMW and the Olympics, which will undoubtedly show up in a major capacity throughout the games, but we've already gotten our first glimpses of it in the specialty 1 Series and 3 Series BMWs being shipped off to members of the Olympic planning committee as you read this blog.

So far, 40 of the estimated 4,000 vehicles to be used throughout the 2012 Summer Olympics have been shipped to their new owners, with several more due out on their way soon.  These are sharp cars, adorned in special edition Olympic graphics unique to this summer's big events.

While you won't find this particular version of the BMW 3 Series in Tampa, we can get our kicks checking them out online and, eventually, on television once the games get underway.  We're hoping for more Phelps, more Liukin, more Dream Team, and certainly more Olympic BMWs.  Summer, as we're sure you're aware, can't come fast enough.
