There are a lot of things we here at Fields BMW Lakeland love about the Summer Olympics, and everybody has their favorite event, whether that be swimming, basketball, gymnastics, or something more obscure.  For some, though, the most emotionally powerful aspect of the entire Games is the Opening Ceremony, and the most emotionally powerful aspect of the Opening Ceremony is the lighting of the torch.

BMW Using Solar Power At Facilities

Energy is a pretty incredible thing, especially considering that there are simply so many ways that we can generate it.  For years (and by "years," we mean like in the thousands), the most surefire way to create and use energy was to burn the earth's natural resources.  For cavemen, that meant wood and fire, followed by the discovery of fossil fuels like coal, natural gas, and of course oil.
 

BMW Adds Yelp to ConnectedDrive

Yelp is a pretty incredible service, as anybody who's ever used it knows.  Instead of counting on the opinion of one stuffy critic to decide where to eat, Yelp users can read reviews from regular ol' people like you and me, and with some businesses offering well over 100 reviews you can actually take the pulse of your fellow customers as a group as opposed to just hearing one person's feelings and rolling?


BMW Plans To Create Energy From Waste in South Africa

Twenty years ago, nobody would've even considered thinking of something this crazy, mostly because twenty years ago nobody was as concerned with the environment as we are today.  Still, a system that recycles rotting waste from a landfill into reusable energy for a BMW manufacturing plant is absolutely genius.

Sometime in 2012, BMW plans to implement exactly this sort of system at their Rosslyn plant in Pretoria, South Africa.
