At Fields BMW Lakeland, we know that drivers of the new 2014 BMW 535i in Winter Haven are always interested in seeing new sights. Often they are able to find just that out on the open road, but thanks to a new innovation from the BMW Group Technology Office and GoPro, drivers will soon be able to see open-road exploring in a whole new light.
The organizations have teamed up to develop the first-ever mass-produced automobile integration with a GoPro camera via the on-board infotainment system. Now, BMW Group vehicles that are equipped with the BMW Apps system may configure a GoPro camera to be controlled via the brand's state-of-the-art iDrive controller along with its high-resolution screen.
By July 2014, integration will be fully functional across all model year vehicles released in 2012 and afterward featuring BMW Apps. Drivers must use a Wi-Fi-equipped GoPro camera and may download the latest GoPro app free at the iTunes Store.
The integration is expected to reduce driver distraction without taking away from the thrill of the driving experience. Drivers may utilize the advanced technology of the GoPro camera to make the most of the thrills that come along with owning and driving a BMW vehicle. After the camera is connected to the vehicle, the GoPro app activates preset settings (Leisure Drive Facing Out, Sport Drive Facing Out, Night Driving, Drive Camera Facing In, Straight Road Time-lapse and Winding Road Time-lapse) that will help drivers catch just the right shot.
Best of all, drivers are kept safe throughout the entire experience. After all, helping our drivers achieve a healthy balance of safety and spontaneity is exactly what our BMW dealership serving Lakeland works to achieve every day.
