It's probably safe to assume that any automobile that has been around for more than four decades is doing some pretty important things the right way. That's how long the BMW 5 Series has been around, and the most recent iteration, the 2013 BMW 535i, is the most luxurious and up-to-date model the series has ever seen. Lakeland BMW customers continue to love this midsize luxury sedan thanks to its gorgeous looks, classy interior design, strong and fuel-efficient engine, amazing safety scores, and plethora of high-tech features. But at the end of the day the fact that it's a long-established and beloved BMW model is what makes this car so special.
The 5 Series includes a number of different models that coordinate with three different engines, and the 535i is the trim that teams up with a very nice 3.0-liter inline-V6 capable of pushing out 300 horsepower and 330 lbs-ft of torque. The standard 535i comes with rear-wheel drive that can be paired with either a six-speed manual or optional eight-speed automatic transmission, while the xDrive (all-wheel drive) model comes only with the automatic.
As far as features are concerned, the 535i offers 18-inch wheels, leather seats, automatic wipers, a sunroof, cruise control, keyless ignition/entry, four-zone automatic climate control, and a navigation system with real-time GPS, to be enjoyed on a larger iDrive screen than the 528i. Other optional add-ons include heated and ventilated seats, a power trunk lid, smartphone app integration, a rear-seat entertainment system, sunshades, infrared night vision display, and an awesome 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen surround sound system. Overall, the list of luxuries in this car provides a little bit of something for everybody.
And safety is great in the 2013 BMW 535i, too. The NHTSA has awarded all 5 Series vehicles a five-star safety rating, and the IIHS also has found that it does well in their own crash tests. They named the 535i a Top Safety Pick thanks to top marks of "Good" in frontal-offset, side-impact, and roof strength crash tests. A big part of this comes from the really amazing technological advances in safety because of new optional features like a blind-spot warning system, adaptive cruise control, a lane-departure warning system, and a rearview camera. Standard safety features include stability and traction control, as well as antilock disc brakes, active front head restraints, and loads of airbags.
Honestly, there are probably more choices for midsize sedan (luxury and otherwise) than any other class of vehicle in the industry, but we here at Fields BMW Lakeland have always held a lot of pride in the fact that the new 2013 BMW 535i is among the best of them. With the kind of build quality, performance, luxury, and style that this vehicle offers, there's simply no denying its place among the top in its segment, and we foresee it staying that way for another forty years. Of course, we encourage you to make a trip to our lot sometime soon so you can try one out for yourself. When you do, you'll understand what exactly makes this car so undeniably transcendent.
