At the risk of making some of our readers feel old, we're going to go ahead and make it known that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the first James Bond movie.  The latest film in the series, "Skyfall," will be released this year and will be the 23rd time a Bond character has undergone one of his fantastic action adventures.  It also marks the 23rd time that a Bond actor-Daniel Craig this time around-gets to drive a whole bunch of really awesome cars.

As much as we love the films for the actors who played Bond, we also understand that the automobiles and technology are sort of the uncredited co-stars of the show.

Recently, Forbes magazine had a little fun combing through all 23 Bond films to find what they felt were the best, most iconic automobiles to have ever appeared in one of the flicks.  They listed six cars; two of them were BMW vehicles.

Which two?  Well, the first was the old BMW 750iL, which appeared in 1997's "Tomorrow Never Dies."  Fans of BMW in Florida may remember this as the flagship of the late '90s, and Bond fans may remember it from the movie's most memorable chase scene.

The other BMW mentioned was a little more recent: the BMW Z8 roadster that was in production from 1999 to 2003.  This was back when the thing was new, so it appeared in 1999's "The World Is Not Enough," equipped with radar-guided stinger missiles.

We here at Fields BMW of Lakeland are big Bond fans, and we're looking forward to "Skyfall," as well as seeing more of our vehicles in these films somewhere down the road.
