We've all been there. You head out of the house on what promises to be a great night with friends, and then the realization hits you like migraine: there's nowhere to park.
Not anymore.
Once again, the BMW brand is revolutionizing the way we drive, and now even the way we park. The automaker's ConnectedDrive system will now launch the Dynamic Parking Prediction research project, which has been designed to assist drivers in the often-annoying search for open on-street parking spots, especially in cities, where the search can be particularly difficult.
To develop the project, the BMW brand joined forces with a world leader in connected car services and transportation intelligence, INRIX. The brand demonstrated the new technology during TU-Automotive Detroit June 3 and 4 using the BMW i3.
The new system was effectively demonstrated in Munich and rollout to additional cities looks promising. Functioning based on movement data provided by a test fleet of thousands of vehicles as they exit and search for spots, Dynamic Parking Prediction reduces the time you spend searching for on-street parking meanwhile easing street congestion often caused by parking. Before displaying available spots on the dashboard, the system's algorithm accounts for vacant spots and the number of searching drivers when directing drivers to available parking spaces.
One of the most exciting new BMW cars available at our Lakeland dealership, the BMW i3 is the perfect apparatus for demonstrating such a groundbreaking new feature. As the first premium electric vehicle available on the global market, the BMW i3 offers unparalleled connectivity features such as recommendations for the quickest available route. Pair that with no-nonsense parking and you'll discover that the BMW brand can truly take you anywhere.
