The ten finalists were recently announced for the World Car of the Year award, and, perhaps not surprisingly, BMW models made up two of the ten. While every other model on this list except for Audi (who also had two) has a one-in-ten shot at taking home the accolade, we here at Fields BMW Lakeland are pretty happy with our 20% chance of winning. Honestly, considering the BMW 1 Series and 3 Series are the vehicles up for consideration, we'd probably place our chances at even better than that. Twenty percent is only if all cars are created equal, and anyone who's ever driven a BMW knows, this car isn't created equal. Honestly, it's created better, and that's why it's on the short-list to win World Car of the Year in 2012.
It'll be several weeks before we find out who actually won, but that just makes the New York International Auto Show in late April all the more exciting for Lakeland car dealers anticipating the results. With so many great models, including the Ford Focus, Chevy Volt, Citroen DS5, Range Rover Evoque, Volkswagen Up! and, yes, even the Porsche 911, we know our 1's and 3's are in pretty good company. We also know that we're staring pretty stiff competition right in the face, but we know our engineers have worked hard to put together award-winning products. The World Car of the Year would be one such award, and something on such a global scale truly would be an honor. In April, we'll find out if one of our girls won it or not, and in the meantime, just getting nominated is a tremendous honor.
