We may be only just over a month into 2013, but at Fields BMW Lakeland, we already have our calendars marked for a few special dates on the way. First up is the 2013 World Car Awards winners' press conference on March 28, when Bridgestone Corporation and the New York International Auto Show will present the 2013 World Car of the Year, World Green Car, World Performance Car and World Car Design of the Year.
But even before we get there, we have another big date marked down. That's March 5, when the top three finalists in all award categories will be announced at the Geneva International Motor Show. We certainly hope to see our models at the top of those finalist lists, but since we still have a month left, let's take a look at the BMW models that are currently in the running.
Following secret-ballot reviews by a jury of 66 renowned automotive journalists, the BMW M 135i and BMW M6 Coupe/Convertible have been selected as top-ten finalists in the 2013 World Performance Car category. Before finalists were announced, international accounting firm KPMG compiled the ballots of jurors representing auto centers of the world in Asia, North America, the U.K., Europe, Russia and beyond.
The next step in the exciting awards process is for the jurors to re-examine the vehicles in the top-ten category listings, with the final round of voting to come later this month. We can't wait to see how these BMW cars fare! Florida drivers are welcome to join us for the results next month, and stay up to date on the latest in BMW model news by checking back in with this blog.
