At our Lakeland BMW dealership, there are plenty of ways we could celebrate the U.S. arrival of the 2014 BMW i8. One of the celebrations we're most looking forward to is at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Weekend next month.
There, the 2014 BMW i8 Concours d'Elegance Edition will be up for auction leading up to its official on-sale date this fall. Acting as official auction house of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Gooding & Company will monitor the auction of the vehicle, set for Saturday, August 16. Sale proceeds will benefit the Pebble Beach Company Foundation as well as the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
In this special edition, the state-of-the-art sports car will feature a special paint scheme (BMW Individual Frozen Grey Metallic) and interior treatment featuring Dalbergia Brown leather upholstery derived from plant extracts. Pending government approval, the vehicle's laser headlights will join its BMW i8 Display key and BMW Charging Station, professional edition, as firsts in the U.S. market.
In the eyes of our BMW dealership serving drivers in Winter Haven, the 2014 BMW i8 is one of the most innovative sports cars available, and it's built like no other vehicle on the road. That's because this plug-in hybrid model unites an electric motor responsible for the front wheels with a 1.5-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder gasoline engine for the rear wheels.
The 2014 BMW i8 may drive on pure electric power up to 75 miles per hour for around 20 miles without producing tailpipe emissions. When the gasoline engine and electric motor work together, the vehicle is capable of hitting 60 miles per hour from a complete stop in just 4.2 seconds as well as a top speed of 155 miles per hour.
The 2014 BMW i8 delivers outstanding fuel efficiency thanks in part to its lightweight carbon fiber reinforced plastic construction. Finally, the model's lithium-ion battery pack may be charged via any 240-volt level charging station in addition to a conventional 110-volt outlet.
