At our Florida BMW dealership, we know that great work and great products do not come from sitting still. Great work is only achieved when you think creatively and act passionately, and that's just what BMW Group subsidiary and creative consultancy DesignworksUSA aims to achieve day after day.

While our work at Fields BMW Lakeland is all about keeping you safely on the ground, BMW Group Design DesignworksUSA has its eyes to the sky thanks to a partnership with Panasonic Avionics that is focused on developing an innovative user interface template to operate on X Series in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems through the Panasonic eXcite2 interactive tool. Through the eXcite2 platform, airlines gain a templated IFE approach that is open to customization for unique branding and content application.

The collaboration with Panasonic Avionics grew out of the IFE and communication company's interest in tapping into the DesignworksUSA understanding of and expertise with perfecting interface design as well as developing premium user interactions. The challenge: create a template IFE flexible enough for application to a range of airline environments while maintaining a consistent and sophisticated user experience time after time. The partnership has also thrived thanks to the eXcite2 model of providing airlines with cost-effective and creative solutions for branding and service opportunities.

Ultimately, the final product features a range of tools designed to enable multiple airlines to customize the appearance and function of the graphical user interface. The service experience can also accommodate food and beverage service, advertising space and duty free shopping for increased revenue generation.

On Monday of this week, the partnership and its resulting product were displayed and celebrated at the Airline Passenger Experience Association Expo in Anaheim, Calif. As DesignworksUSA moves forward, our staff at Fields BMW Lakeland is excited to see creativity continue by land, air and...we’ll see where else it goes! And we certainly hope that drivers like you will be there to join us.
