At Fields BMW Lakeland, we know that driving is never about the numbers, just as our sales staff looks at its customers as more than just numbers. But from time to time we think it's important to step back from the day-to-day work and celebrate an accomplishment that just so happens to be a number as well.

Today, our Lakeland BMW dealership is celebrating the BMW brand's production of its 3 millionth vehicle in Spartanburg, S.C. The achievement was recognized at a special ceremony held at the plant earlier this week. The lucky number 3 million was a Donington Grey Metallic BMW X5 with Mugello Red Full Merino leather seats as well as a Carbon Fiber interior trim. The special vehicle was driven by Dawn Burgess, an associate who was hired at the plant in 1994.

Other vehicles on display included:

·         Alpine White BMW 318i -- the first produced at the plant in September 1994

·         Interlagos Blue BMW Z4 M -- the 1 millionth vehicle produced in February 2006

·         Vermilion Red BMW X3 -- the 2 millionth vehicle produced in January 2012

At the event, Burgess presented President and CEO of BMW Manufacturing Manfred Erlacher with the keys to the vehicle, which will be shipped to a customer in Kristianstad, Sweden. Additionally, President and CEO of South Carolina Ports Authority Jim Newsome and South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt joined the festivities as guest speakers.

The numbers continue to impress as the U.S. Department of Commerce confirmed last month that the BMW brand is the largest U.S. automotive exporter of passenger vehicles by value. Please join us in celebrating these outstanding accomplishments for the BMW brand!
