The impressively efficient BMW M Series is a triumph of aerodynamic design and innovative engineering, and here at Fields BMW Lakeland, we are proud to carry several M Series models, including the 2016 BMW M5.
It all begins with the eye-catching front apron of the M Series vehicles. The large air inlets ensure optimal cooling of the engine, oil, brakes, and charge air, while also cooling the transmission oil in the M DCT. Additional air inlets in the side M gills and the Air Curtain, together with integrated Air Breather behind the wheel arches, work to create an accelerated flow of air around the front wheels. What does this mean for you? In short, a smoother ride, as this buffer of air serves to minimize turbulence and reduce air resistance. But these features are only part of the puzzle. To cut down on lift, the gurney flap further optimizes the aerodynamic balance between the front and rear axles. The M Series truly lives up to the saying “greater than the sum of its parts,” as these features work together to make the car racetrack-ready and create the unique feel of driving a BMW M Series vehicle.
Never content to rest on their laurels, BMW set out to make the most of every aspect of the M Series. Every time a driver hits the brakes in their car, kinetic energy is generated, kinetic energy that historically has gone to waste. But with the M Series, BMW sought to capture this wasted potential. Brake Energy Regeneration harnesses the energy that comes from the driver hitting the brakes or taking their foot off of the accelerator, and turns that energy into electricity.
These are only some of the innovations on display in the M Series. If you’re looking to take advantage of this efficient engineering, come in to Fields BMW Lakeland, your source for new BMW cars in Florida.
