There are a few essential things you’ll want to look for when inspecting a pre-owned vehicle, including the following problem areas:
- Stopping, starting, and steering systems. You always want to make sure that a pre-owned vehicle will be responsive and reliable out on the open road. Test how the car accelerates, stops, and turns to figure out if it’s a good fit.
- Rust. Rust is a very difficult problem to fix and may end up costing more to remove than the vehicle is worth. If you notice large sections of rust on a pre-owned vehicle, it’s best to move on to another option.
- Windows and windshields. You want to make sure that there is no damage to the windshield or any of the windows. The price for a replacement will vary, but you’ll want to know about any extra costs in advance.
